Seaside Architecture on the Brazilian Notheastern Coast
On isolated beaches in northeastern Brazil, without power or technologies like cell phone, TV, or simple tools; fishing communities produce a particular procedure in their architecture, heavily influenced by indigenous, African and Portuguese cultures. A vernacular architecture.
13 years after documenting these dwellings in a book, Arquitetura Vernacular Praieira, the architect and archaeologist Genival Barros Lima Jr, intends with the series to undertake a second expedition to revisit and reconnect with people and places, investigating the preservation or mutation of the singularity of each one of the cultures on each beach. The first season focuses on 11 beaches, divided into 4 states, Maranhão, Ceára, Alagoas and Bahia.
More than merely a constructive culture, “Vernacular Praieira Architecture” proves to be a popular culture, a socioeconomic experience with influence in the most diverse artistic manifestations. How to grasp and learn about the environment.

Series of documentaries that report the expedition led by architect and archaeologist Genival Barros Lima Jr who, after a 13-year expedition, revisits isolated beaches in northeastern Brazil, to record how fishermen developed vernacular architecture for their homes and villages based on culture constructive African, indigenous and Portuguese, recreating meaning not only for housing, but also for socioeconomic relations in their daily lives.

Arquiteto e arqueólogo.
Formado em arquitetura e urbanismo pela UFPE- Universidade Federal de Pernambuco em 1996. Com 23 anos à frente da Barros Lima Arquitetura, escritório com atuação em área pública (projetos de urbanização, equipamentos públicos como centros culturais, escolas, teatros, praças e parques, bem como equipamentos de saúde) e privada (projetos de arquitetura de interiores, arquitetura residencial, multifamiliar e hoteleira.
Mestre em arqueologia pela Universidade Federal de Pernambuco, com atuação em escavações e prospecções no sertão baiano, potiguar e paraibano.
Em 2007 publicou o livro “Arquitetura Vernacular Praieira”, resultado de uma pesquisa em todo o litoral nordestino, coletando informações e fotografando casas de pescadores. Esta publicação traçou um panorama de como estavam estas comunidades, espalhadas pelas praias, e como sobreviviam culturalmente.
Aliado a isso JR tem um gosto musical e estético bem peculiar com uma predileção por Rock pesado (“pesado mesmo”) e o costume de só usar preto (“É mais forte que eu”). Ele mantém esse hábito mesmo em expedições no meio do nada com sol a pino, uma personalidade marcante que acrescenta mais interesse à serie.

Graduated in architecture and urbanism from UFPE- Federal University of Pernambuco in 1996. With 23 years at the helm of Barros Lima Arquitetura, an office with operations in the public area (urbanization projects, public facilities such as cultural centers, schools, theaters, squares and parks, as well as health equipment) and private (interior architecture projects, residential, multifamily and hotel architecture.
Master in archaeology from the Federal University of Pernambuco, working in excavations and prospecting in the interior of Bahia, Rio Grande do Norte and Paraíba.
In 2007 he published the book “Arquitetura Vernacular Praieira”, the result of a survey of the entire northeastern coast, collecting information and photographing fishermen's houses. This publication gave an overview of how these communities were, scattered on the beaches, and how they survived culturally.
Allied to that, JR has a very peculiar musical and aesthetic taste with a predilection for heavy rock (“really heavy”) and the habit only wearing black (“It's stronger than me”). A habit he maintains even on expeditions in the middle of nowhere with sun at the top, a striking personality that adds more interest to the series.

Graduated in Architecture and Urbanism, with training in Advertising and Journalism. She holds a Master's degree in Computing, Communication and Arts at PPGCCA -UFPB.
He stood out as Show Runner and Co-Director in Geração Saúde II. A series of educational programs composed of 15 (fifteen) episodes of 26 minutes each.

Tem larga experiência na área de Computação Gráfica, principalmente em animação 3D, 2D e efeitos de pós-produção. Participou de projetos pioneiros de computação gráfica e TV interativa alimentando a paixão por novas tecnologias e mídias.
Apaixonado por audiovisual e tecnologia já foi montador de 2 longas e responsável pela finalização e pós produção de 3 filmes para cinema, editou também vários documentários e um sem número de comerciais de TV além de ter expertise de motion design. Um de seus últimos trabalhos como montador e finalizador Beiço de Estrada ganhou diversos prêmios tendo sido selecionado para exibição em festivais no Brasil, Estônia e Itália. Também foi o coordenador de pós-produção e finalização da série de 13 episódios de 26 minutos, Geração Saúde II, grande sucesso da TV Escola.
Especialista em Análise de Risco e Mestre em Engenharia de Produção com dissertação tratando de Realidade Virtual e confiabilidade humana. Atualmente trabalha também junto ao Centro de Comunicação Turismo e Artes Universidade Federal da Paraíba em projetos de inovação e artes aplicadas.

Founding partner of Content, holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Paraíba. He has extensive experience in Computer Graphics, mainly in 3D, 2D animation and post-production effects. Participated in pioneering computer graphics and interactive TV projects fueling a passion for new technologies and media.
Passionate about audiovisual and technology, he has already edited 2 feature films and was responsible for the finalization and post-production of 3 films for cinema, he also edited several documentaries and countless TV commercials in addition to having motion design expertise. One of his last works as editor and finisher “Waiting on The Road” won several awards having been selected for exhibition at festivals in Brazil, Estonia and Italy. He was also the coordinator of post-production and finalization of the 13-episode series of 26 minutes, Geração Saúde II, a great success for TV Escola.
Specialist in Risk Analysis and Master in Production Engineering with dissertation dealing with Virtual Reality and human reliability. He is also currently working with the Communication and Tourism and Arts Center at the Federal University of Paraíba on innovation and applied arts projects.

Jovem compositor e instrumentista Rieg Michael Erich Wasa-Rodig é um mix de influências do mundo todas aplicadas em forma de arte musical. O camarada nasceu americano, morou na Alemanha, filho de mãe brasileira e pai francês e mora na Paraíba ja faz alguns anos. Na paraiba fez e faz parte de algumas bandas ( Star 61, Madalena Moog) e tambem ja lançou um belo disco solo (BAIXE), feito de maneira caseira todo no Folk Lo-Fi. De tanto respirar música, o cara passou por uma mutação e virou uma banda, sim, Rieg agora é uma BANDA. Nela, Rieg Rodig juntou-se a Felipe, Daniel e Nildo, otimos musicos paraibanos, integrantes de banda como Dalva Suada e Burro Morto. No inicio de 2010 a banda entrou em estudio para compor e gravar o 1º registroe fez uma viagem musical que agora ele apresenta no EP entitulado The Histrionic. O primeiro show do grupo foi em novembro, dentro do Festival Mundo 2010, onde a banda foi muito bem recebida.

Young composer and instrumentalist Rieg Michael Erich Wasa-Rodig is a mix of influences from around the world all applied in the form of musical art. The guy was born American, lived in Germany, the son of a Brazilian mother and a French father and has lived in Paraíba for some years. In Paraiba he was and is part of some bands (Star 61, Madalena Moog) and has also released a beautiful solo album (DOWNLOAD), made in a homemade way all in Folk Lo-Fi. From breathing so much music, the guy went through a mutation and became a band, yes, Rieg is now a BAND. In it, Rieg Rodig joined Felipe, Daniel and Nildo, great musicians from Paraíba, band members like Dalva Suada and Burro Morto. At the beginning of 2010 the band entered the studio to compose and record the 1st record and made a musical trip that he now presents on the EP entitled The Histrionic. The group's first concert was in November, within the Festival Mundo 2010, where the band was very well received.
